Plumber 
Hours: 8:00–16:30 (Mon–Thu) | 8:00–16:00 (Fri)
On-call: Participation in out-of-hours rota required

We are seeking a skilled and reliable  Plumber to join our Estates & Facilities team, supporting the delivery of high-quality mechanical services across NHS healthcare environments. The postholder will undertake a wide range of planned, reactive, and minor works, ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with statutory and organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out both routine and non-routine work activities across mechanical and plumbing services.
  • Undertake new works, repairs, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical, heating, hot and cold water plant, equipment, and associated services.
  • Respond efficiently to reactive maintenance requests, minor installations, and weekly PPM schedules.
  • Escort and supervise external contractors during inspections, servicing, and installation works.
  • Maintain accurate tool lists, maintenance records, and documentation.
  • Strictly adhere to all Health & Safety, Security Regulations, and Trust policies and procedures.
  • Work to agreed deadlines and support service delivery across multiple London sites as required.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota when required.
Qualifications & Training
  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing, Refrigeration, or Mechanical Services.
  • Specialisation in a mechanical discipline such as Gas, Refrigeration, or Heat Pumps.
  • Water Safety Training (essential).
Experience
  • Proven experience working with mechanical, ventilation, and/or gas installations and maintenance.
  • Previous experience within an NHS or healthcare environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to respond to changing operational demands.
  • Computer literate, with experience using CAFM or maintenance systems desirable.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
Additional Requirements
  • Own tools and PPE.
  • Full UK driving licence (manual).
  • Satisfactory attendance and flexibility to work across London-based sites.
