Location: North London
Service Area: Environment & Regeneration
Division/Unit: Public Realm – Traffic and Parking
Reports To: Traffic Engineering Managers
Contract Length: 2-Months
Rate: £32.50ph (Umbrella)
This role offers a chance to enhance the local authorities public realm.
As an Engineer within the Traffic and Parking team, you will shape the borough's infrastructure to meet community needs while maintaining high quality and efficiency.
This position provides professional growth, diverse projects, and collaboration opportunities with local communities, businesses, and specialist groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee small to medium-sized projects from conception to implementation, ensuring they meet Council policies and community needs.
- Technical Excellence: Provide specialist engineering services, maintaining high-quality solutions for traffic and parking issues.
- Community Engagement: Involve local communities and stakeholders in project development and implementation.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all actions comply with relevant legislation, Council policies, and quality standards.
- Financial Oversight: Prepare budget estimates and manage project expenditures, ensuring financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Consultation and Reporting: Prepare and present reports to Committees and other public gatherings, addressing concerns of elected Members.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Professional Qualifications: Corporate Membership or Incorporated status of a recognised professional engineering institution, or a degree in Engineering/Transportation with at least four years of post-qualification experience.
- Consultation Experience: Experience in public consultation techniques and working towards user participation to meet customer and client expectations.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both in writing and orally, at all levels within and outside the Council.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to develop workable and innovative solutions in problem-solving situations.
- IT Proficiency: Competence in using IT systems, including design and drafting packages such as AutoCAD, to enhance service delivery.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with a proactive and responsive approach.
