Estates Craftsperson – Electrical (Band 4)
West Suffolk
£28,392–£31,157 per annum

Join an Estates team and play an important role in keeping the Trust’s buildings, engineering systems and equipment safe, reliable and operational.

As an Estates Craftsperson – Electrical, you’ll use your practical electrical expertise to carry out maintenance, fault-finding, testing and installation work across Trust sites. It’s a varied role where your work directly supports the environment in which patients, visitors and staff receive care.

What you’ll do
Diagnose and repair electrical faults across Trust sites.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs and electrical installations.
Test and inspect electrical systems and equipment in line with BS 7671 and Trust procedures.
Work on low-voltage networks and critical electrical systems.
Carry out portable appliance and fixed electrical testing.
Work with systems including electrical distribution, standby generators, fire alarms and BMS.
Complete commissioning tests, reports and relevant certification.
Undertake minor mechanical maintenance and fault-finding where required.
Follow Health & Safety, HTM 06 and Electrical Safety Code requirements.
Participate in the on-call rota and respond to emergency repairs.
Work one weekend day each month on PPM/reactive tasks, with a day off in lieu the following week.

What you’ll bring
A recognised electrical trade apprenticeship.
City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering and/or NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation + AM2 (or equivalent).
Current IEE Wiring Regulations.
Experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance.
Good problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The flexibility to work across different Trust sites and outside normal hours when required.

Experience in an acute hospital environment is desirable, along with knowledge of HTM 06, electrical distribution, standby generators, fire alarms and BMS.
