Plumber - Durham

Permanent Plumber – HMP Durham, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3HU
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Plumber at HMP Durham.
Working hours: 39 hours per week. Staff work on a rota basis:

• Monday to Thursday: 07:30 – 16:30
• Friday: 07:30 – 15:30
• Saturday to Sunday: 08:00 – 15:00

You will be required to work 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis, with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary. Participation in an on-call rota is also required and is paid separately.

This role supports His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by ensuring prisons remain safe, clean, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine and non-routine maintenance.
• Undertake mains water supply repairs.
• Identify faults and life-expired equipment, checking, repairing, and restoring as required.
• Perform inspections, water sampling, and risk assessments.

What You Will Bring

• Full UK driving licence
• Experience working in a commercial environment
• Experience in operating light plant
• NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating (essential)
• Legionella Control (L8) certification (desirable)
